Purpose of Use

The stainless steel egg-shaped wire rope clamp is used for secure and reversible fastening of wire ropes, particularly for light to medium loads. It is excellent for creating loops, end connections, or tensions in environments with high corrosion risk, such as at sea or outdoors. Thanks to the saltwater-resistant material (V4A AISI 316 stainless steel), it is ideal for applications where rust and weather influences play a role. Important: These clamps are intended for decorative and light uses and are not suitable for highly loaded safety applications (e.g., lifting loads or construction structures) – here we recommend certified alternatives like pressed clamps according to DIN EN 13411-3.

How It Works

The clamp consists of two oval stainless steel shells (in egg shape) and a countersunk screw with Torx or slotted head, which pulls the shells together. The egg shape ensures even pressure distribution on the rope without damaging it and provides stable fixation. The assembly is tool-minimal and quick:

  1. Preparation: Select the appropriate clamp for your rope diameter (e.g., 3 mm for ropes up to 3 mm). Lay the wire rope in a loop or parallel (for end connections) and position it between the two shells.
  2. Insertion: Feed the rope through the opening of the shells so that it is centered. The screw should be loose to avoid pinching the rope.
  3. Tightening: Tighten the countersunk screw with a screwdriver or Torx tool hand-tight – only until the rope cannot slip sideways, but remains somewhat flexible. Avoid over-tightening to spare the rope.
  4. Securing and Checking: For additional stability, complement the connection with a thimble or turnbuckle. Gently test the strength by pulling lightly – the clamp is now ready for use and reusable by loosening the screw.

Tip: Wear gloves during assembly to avoid injuries from sharp rope ends. The clamp withstands breaking forces (depending on size), but is primarily optimized for ornamental and tension purposes.

Examples of Use Cases
  • Maritime Applications: Fastening sails or railing ropes on boats – the rust resistance protects against saltwater, e.g., creating a simple line for a sailboat.
  • Garden and Balcony Construction: Tautening climbing ropes for plants like grapevines – here the clamp serves as a decorative element that blends unobtrusively into green spaces.
  • Playgrounds and Leisure Facilities: Secure end connections for swing chains or climbing frames – easy to assemble for quick installations.
  • Caravans and Camping: Fixing awnings or luggage nets – robust against weather and easy to disassemble for transport.

With this clamp, you turn everyday projects into professional installations – simple, secure, and stylish!
